Natalie Decker continued her run of strong finishes Friday night at Golden Sands Speedway.  The Eagle River, Wisconsin driver earned her third straight top-three finish at the Plover, Wisconsin track.

“We had the fastest car in practice before the race, but the changes we made for the feature didn’t help us get that win,” said Decker.  “We definitely weren’t as fast as 14, who won, and 7-11 who took second.”

With just one regular season race left at Golden Sands Speedway this year, Decker continues to eye that elusive win.  After a string of good runs, the 19-year-old driver says there’s still work to be done to find Victory Lane August 6 on Season Championship night.

“Our team has some work to do before we get closer to that win at Golden Sands,” said Decker.  “It will be important for me to give Tom Ress the best feedback for a winning car next time.  We knew what we did wrong and next time hopefully we get the set-up just right and take that W.”

Decker brings her Super Late Model back to State Park Speedway (WI) this weekend for the Larry Detjens Memorial race on Saturday, July 30.  Decker has picked-up a pair of wins at the Wausau, Wisconsin track this year and currently leads the point standing, but a win in the Larry Detjens Memorial would be a big one for the young driver.

“Our team is excited to race at SPS for the Detjen’s Memorial,” said Decker.  “This race is very meaningful to our team.  Tom Ress was the crew chief for Mark Mackesy, Larry Detjen’s son-in law, for many years.  I didn’t get the chance to meet Mr. Detjens but I feel like I know him from all the great stories told at SPS. He was loved by all and an amazing racer.  To win this prestigious race at my home track would be an absolute honor.”
