Decker Claims Third Straight ARCA Midwest Tour Top-10 Finish

Natalie Decker bounced around the Midwest last weekend, racing at State Park Speedway (WI) on Thursday and then Grundy County Speedway (IL) with the ARCA Midwest Tour on Friday.  The Eagle River, Wisconsin racer exited the weekend with a pair of strong run against tough competition.

Due to a few rain showers Thursday night at State Park Speedway, qualifying was cancelled and the field started the 40-lap feature by points.  Since Decker leads the Super Late Model points, she started from the rear, but drove towards the front for a third-place finish.
“Mother Nature came into play once again at State Park Speedway,” said Decker.  “Due to the rain delay we were unable to qualify and didn’t get a heat race in which didn’t give our team much help in setting the car up for the feature.  I really wanted to win the race we were off an inch on stager so the car was really tight but we tried our best with what we had.”

The 19-year-old driver backed up her performance with her third ARCA Midwest Tour straight top-10 finish.  An early incident caused some damage to Decker’s No. 04 machine and hurt what could possibly have been an even better day.

“Grundy was fun we did struggle a lot,” said Decker.  “We got caught up in a wreck and it knocked our toe out two inches, but we go back in the race and finished 10th with a bent tie rod bolt and other damage.  A top 10 with what was all broke was good but we wanted to finish better we just needed better luck.”

Decker has another quick turnaround as she is already at Slinger Speedway (WI) practicing for the Slinger Nationals on Tuesday, July 19.  Decker failed to make the race last year and hopes to change this this time around.

“I am really excited to get back on the track at Slinger,” said Decker.  “There will be a lot of big names there and it is an honor to race with them.  My first goal will be to qualify into the race.”
